RE: [datacenter] Rack Grounding Products

Thanks for the lighting response!  In your experience, is each rack grounded as a practice and does the datacenter provide multiple grounding points throughout?  Obviously, we have no points in our room that I am aware of but I'll be contacting Facilities on this matter today.

Absolutely, YES!  The common misconception is that the UPS provides all the grounding one needs.  This IS the ultimate myth!  Rack single-point grounding is as important at least as personnel safety grounding per the National Electric Code.  There are several methods, but the general rule is that the more robust one can make it, the better off one is.

I am going through an equipment list for our datacenter expansion and noticed this item.  We are not using ground leads from our equipment racks.  Everything that is powered in the datacenter pulls from our Liebert UPS.  Is it common to use grounding on each telco or equipment rack in a room?
