RE: DATACENTER: Rack mount LCD display w/ integrated keyboard/mouse?
If you've ever tried to install a non-compaq supplied OS on a Compaq, you'll
understand the reluctance. Way too many proprietary surprises.
I'll rack ANYTHING before I rack Compaq. The last Compaq problem cost me
over two weeks while five $120/hour guys were twiddleing their thumbs (wierd
NIC driver under WinNT ... had to get the Compaq version of WinNT <grrrrr>).
Then I tried to install Caldera Linux on a Proliant (last month, my Suns
were late and I had guys sitting around waiting for a Unix server)... more
wierd proprietary driver problems. Compaq has been on my black list ever
since.
Compaq is definitely NOT re-purposable hardware.
