[ale] Netscape Problem

I am having trouble installing Netscape.  When in X, I recieve multiple can
not allocate colormap errors, followed by a bus error and then the boot up
stops.  I have installed Netscape on Linux before and have never seen this
problem.  The Hardware is a Compaq 9232 (S3 Trio 64+) chip.  I have
installed the monitor as a generic SVGA because I can not find support for
the S3 yet.  The Linux is Slackware v1.3.18, abare kernal.  Anyone encounter
this problem before?
