Also check the version. 1.2 and 2.0 are incompatable unless 2.0 is _told_
to be. A 2.0 client can not connect to a 1.2 server. At all. Ever. A 1.2
client can only connect to a 2.0 server iff the 2.0 server was compiled
after 1.2 was installed and it has been configured to use the old 1.2
methods when needed.
