[ale] making boot diskettes for 386

in the past I have tried to make boot disks for 386 machines, under
windows, on a pentieum, without success. Will I have the same problem
under linux? Will I need to dedicate 486 to make boot disks for 386?
I know that a pent to compile kernals.
