In January, I gave a talk at our Atlanta Section meeting of the American
Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), entitled: "Free Speech, Free
Lunch, and Free Software: Software projects making news, and when to use
them." I have posted the slides at:

I would appreciate comments and suggestions. Please bear in mind:

1) This was a talk aimed at computer users who probably build few of their
applications, but do use computer applications freely in their work.

2) This was my first attempt at an electronically illustrated talk.

3) My flame-retardant suit is a bit the worse for wear, as is my ego (in
spite of what those who actually know me may sometimes say).
