[ale] star office vs. open office

I work at a non-profit and want to move them away from mickey soft office 
and Corel.
I was looking at star office. But have now been made aware of open office 
project.
What are the pros and cons of each?
I don't want to get on something that is still developmental.

Also as far as training for myself, What do you think of Sun's star 
office certification.
My idea was that maybe there might be a market out there if MS gears up 
the subscription idea again.
