[ale] VoiceStream and Linux

Has anyone gotten the VoiceStream data modem thing working with Linux?
I'm able to hook the phone up and send AT commands to it, but dialing
into ELNK doesn't seem to work. 

The VoiceStream website seems to indicate they have an always on option
that bills by the Byte, but before I signup for it, I'd like to know it
will work under Linux.
