[ale] problem with symbolic colors

Greetings:

The problem is that the symbolic links colors have changed
however the actual link is still there.  For example in
/usr/bin 

netscape-communicator is symbolically link to netscape, it should be light blue
however it is now red. An that color "red" should indicate a broken link. Has anyone ever experinced this situation before.

Rhat 7.2 
amd K-6
320+/- sdram
40 gb hd
gnome 1.4
