[ale] default X setting for RH installer?

Does anyone know if there's a way I can determine what
settings RedHat uses on a particular machine during a
gui installation?

The reason I ask is that when I ran the gui installer
on my laptop, the gui install program worked
beautifully.  However, when I try to configure X on my
own I'm getting all sorts of problems.  I'd like to
find out what the install used and just incorporate
that...
