[ale] couple problems / projects

trying to get the debian pre compiled kernel image
2.4.x working on my loadlin winbloze boot... (how do
you make a boot disk?)

i installed xscreensavers JUST for the cool apps that
run on my desktop while im working.... do i have to
keep all the stuff debian installed just to run these
buggers?

if i was to use my current debian system and build a
new debian system from source code and then compare
the 2 would the one from source code be any smaller?
cleaner? faster? 

any input on any of these questions appreciated :)
