[ale] surviving sans work

I got out of the military two and a half months ago, and I'm still looking
for a job.  Fortunately, I saved a little out of every paycheck since boot
camp for just this reason.  I recommend putting away at least $50 a month.
If you can't bear to take a $50 cut in your standard of living, then save
your raises when you get them.  It's tough at first... but if you discipline
yourself never to borrow from the cookie jar, pretty soon you don't even
think about that $50.
