[ale] OT: Video Capture card

Does anyone have a "video capture card" working in Linux?
I picked this up from the Kodak site:

"If your material is on video-tape or on a video camera, you will need a 
video capture device such as a video capture card. Video capture devices 
capture video normally in AVI or MPEG formats."

I'm willing to pay/barter to get this video on a hard drive encoded as an 
.mpg.
