[ale] Screen Freezes at over 480/640!!!!!

Hi 
Ive installed linux SuSE but the screen freezes at
over 480/640 resoulution. Installed SuSE 7.1 on a
Digital Alpha 433au workstation. Have tried numerous
supported graphics cards and ive also tried changing
the RAM.

Any ideas would be great!!
