Well, they're pushing towards XML the same way they pushed towards HTTP,
HTML and such.  IIRC, one of the news articles suggested that they would be
keeping the DTDs for Office 11 to themselves.  Still, given the choice
between re-engineering an XML format or a binary one, I'll take XML any
day.
