I don't think this is the case, Marvin. You can do anything you want
with the code, but if you release a mod, you must release the source to
the mod. In this way, Linux stays Linux and doesn't morph into a
million different things.
The BSD license is fine, too, but it means that pieces of it can show up
in, oh, Windows NT without attribution. The licenses accomplish
different things.
