[ale] Hauppauge WinTV and RH 8.0 issue....

Hmmm, just xawtv hangs or the whole box hangs?  I've got wintv on 
Mandrake 9.0 and RH 7.3 both working fine.

What version of xawtv?  I'm running 3.76 on my Mandrake box.
