[ale] Lycoris... or something more appropriate

Hi folks,

I have talked to my father about linux in the past, and he seems
interested in trying it on one of his older boxes.  He is no PC expert,
but he is quite knowledgeable about the basics of computers, and he's a
good Googler.  Do you all think Lycoris would be a good choice for him
to try out?  Or is there something better for a win -> linux newbie?
