This is a great, short article from Whitfield Diffie, explaining why open
source security is always more desirable than the closed source alternative:

The simplicity of his arguments cuts like a knife through the FUD being spread
by companies who offer proprietary security systems. If you have a corporate
client that's making the opposite argument, aske them to present an authority
of Diffie's stature who supports their stance.
