What is the contents of the data (binary, ascii, unicode)? I recall
once having to use dd and grep to find a text file I deleted (oops) ;)
I never thought I would say this, but digging through the file
system source code (what a mess), and reading the docs on EXT2 has
proven very very very ^ 999999999 valuable!
