[ale] First time trashing Linux/Resolution

Thanks to everyone who offered help. I downloaded and booted Tom's root boot
disk and quickly realized that when I knew what I was doing it would be a
great thing to have. I tried the upgrade suggestion and it failed. I've
copied all my files over to my windows partition and re-installed Linux from
scratch. Now it will just be a question of getting some things setup again
(won't hurt me to do it again) and copying my files back over. Thanks for
your assistance, I'll leave the stuff out in CVS alone for a bit and just
get stable releases. Oh, and yes I make the emergency boot disk this time.
