It won't, at least on current systems. ext3 now overwrites the block
addresses in the inode before it moves the inode to the free inode list.
Your only solution is grep.
The only way switching might help is if you delete on ext3, poweroff while
the delete is in the journal but not yet flushed out to disk, then power on
as ext2 and try to recover.
