My goal is to receive raw midi??through the midi port of a 
soundcard.
On some systems, I get the error:
"/dev/midi: "device not found"
??
My soundcard is configured; I can??play midi files, just cannot receive 
midi signals.
Questions:
1. What's missing??? 
2. Is there a way to configure midi from the command-line?
3. If I approach a new system, how could I determine if this system has the 
same shortcoming?
