I tested my 15/30 on Solaris and Windows xp to verify speed.  Try another os
to see if it is the drive or the os.  Are you in compression mode?

I installed a SCSI-3 Compaq external 20/40GB tape drive.
I'm trying to figure out shy it seems to take a long time
to do a backup.  I have no prior experience with this type
of drive so I was hoping ppl here would know best.  I'm backing up
around 5GB now.  It takes a little more than 2 hours to do that
backup.  So 20GB of data would take much longer.  Is this a realistic
amount of time for a backup of this size?
