Anyone:

I've installed Knoppix for someone very open to Linux, but hit a rough spot connecting to CompuServe.  I KNOW to avoid AOL, but thought CIS would work with Linux.   Google searches turned up some weird requirement of logging in with 7 bits Even parity 1 stop bit, then switching to standard 8N1 serial connection.  It also stated that wvdial had conquered this weirdness. 

Just set up wvdial with "Compuserve = 1" in the conf file.  It tries repeatedly, but with 3 combinations of username/password can't get connected, always ending in user/password failure.

Now the user is having second thoughts about Linux, as she is reluctant to tell the world her CIS address has changed.
