[ale] Looking for editor opinions

A couple of other free editors that do what you asked, though some
configuration, plug-ins, or both, are needed:
SciTE
http://www.scintilla.org/SciTE.html
and
jEdit
http://www.jedit.org/

SciTE is fairly small--it'll fit on a floppy. The problems that folks complain
about for most Java programs are there for jEdit--slow start-up, eats RAM like
breakfast cereal, etc.--but there's some swell stuff going on with the
plug-ins. 

I keep trying to learn emacs--I last about two weeks each time. Eclipse, I
admire, but have to keep relearning.
