Sadly, the process of educating people about "writing websites to
standards" seems to be pointless as the website writers are only
following the directions of the pointy-haired boss who can only see that
since 90+% of the machines have IE, IE _must_ be a standard.
Lately, I have been noticing that much of the M$ platform is geared
toward the clueless cattle (we all know this, but hear me out...) and
the lure is "easy to use" and loads of eye-candy. It's is drawing an
analogy in my mind to drug use by kids: sure it's fun, in some crowds it
is cool, but there is a price to pay. All the crap that M$ is embedding
in their systems is a drug to the mindless cattle who use PC's for
anything at work. The price that gets paid is security holes, virii,
worms, spam, and growing legions of morons who won't consider any other
platform because they will have to think to use it.
It wasn't that long ago that to get access to a computer required a
prerequisite of a PhD or very special permissions. Until the
information tool makers like Microsoft are put out of business, humanity
will continue to slip further down the path of stupid.
Aaarrgghhhhh! I guess I need to see some sunshine and stop looking at my
screens.
