But it looks like both are not loved by some spam lists

I think this is the most likely scenario.
Especially after looking at <a rel="nofollow" href="http://openrbl.org/">http://openrbl.org/</a>.
Did the (successful) test with an older Mozilla version use
exactly the same path?
