Several months ago I got a Samsung ML-1710 laser printer for $99 (and a quick
Google search shows you can find it for even lower than that).  It completely
works in Linux, and I've had a lot fewer problems with this than with any
inkjet printer.

It is black and white only, though, if color is important to you.
