That's exactly what I am trying to get away from.  I've been a fan of
Register.com for quite some time now.  However, they are refusing to
support DNS TXT data, so this breaks SPF (<a  rel="nofollow" href="http://spf.pobox.com";>http://spf.pobox.com</a>) for
me.  

Thanks for the other info Alan, I'll checkout zoneedit.
