[ale] USB -> IDE enclosuers

i have a small usb enclosure that houses a laptop hard disk.  i have never
had a "heat issue".

maybe if it was a large drive used in a hot room or on the dash of a car a
fan would be nice, but i haven't run into any of those issues.
