I must confess that I haven't actually used much except kmail.  I don't 
currently use the calendar and there aren't any other KDE folks here 
for me to try to share calendars with, anyway.  I prefer kmail to 
evolution, probably only because I prefer KDE to GNOME.  I have a 
couple annoyances with Evolution, but nothing major.

If you are switching to Mandrake, you might want to check out the latest 
Madrake 10 (I think it is only officially available to mandrake Club 
users, but I bet you can find a copy if you look.  In fact, I just 
found it at cheapbytes.com for $8.99).

Mandrake 10 has KDE 3.2 which has the new Kontact application with is a 
nice wrapper around kmail, addr book, calendar, todo list, making if 
essentially equivalent to Evolution.

Even better, mandrake 10 also supplies kroupware which adds groupware 
stuff to kontact.  I think it comes with a server, but I haven't played 
with that, yet.  But you have a choice whether to install kmail, or 
kmail with kroupware.
