I've been around Linux now for about nine years and I've never heard of this 
incredibly useful tool. It's a simple way to avoid opening a bunch of x-terms 
for handling multiple jobs. It's as if you could tab between multiple 
terminals and also monitor for silence or activity on them. But it's all in 
one terminal. See this article:
