Well, problems have ensued, and I thought I'd share my findings here.
It appears that FC3 started having odd little glitches here and there.
Among them, the system would hang at desktop for no reason. And I mean
*HANG*. Nothing. Nada.
I did a major up2date, and everything seemed to go back to normal, but then
I started seeing odd little goofiness here and there. Evolution would hang
in mid-air, and I'd kill it and try to relaunch. I'd then lose the panel
and couldn't launch anything from menu.
I could still go to a VT, but that was the extent of it. A reboot, and all
would come back until the next hang.
Since then, I've reinstalled fresh, and all that silliness has disappeared.
Moral: Don't upgrade.
I don't know why its given me the grief it has.
No /var/log/messages, no X messages, no libraries dumping errors into any
other logfiles that I could see.
System reinstlaled and reconfigured. Works great, and now even faster than
my previous rantings about how fast it was.
>shrug< go figure.
