[ale] Upgrade hell
Your Sony Viao would only have the problem I am mentioning if it has the
Neomagic video audio chipset. The driver worked fine under early 2.4
kernels but in the last couple of years has not worked well. Or, some
other subsystem interferes with the hardware.
