As I recall he wrote vi.

That was back before he founded Sun and made his millions. He is
still a daily fixture in the life of UNIX.
.... Bill Joy story
A few years ago Bill Joy was giving a presentation. Before the Q&A he
turned off his laptop. During the Q&A someone stole his laptop. Bill
Joy claimed there was Millions of $$s in IP on the laptop..... Now he
travels with a bodygaurd for his laptop.
Moral of the story: Without physical security you have no security.
Old story, I know: With self-encrypting hard drives it may not be
necessary for all of us to hire body gaurds for our laptops. Or if
we all implement Michael Warfield's laptop encryption
solution...............
