Don't know if you followed my recent posts, but this "just worked out of
the box" when I installed SuSE-9.3Pro (net download). You might look
into what's used there.

My PC has an Agere modem on it. It's been a year since I tried to make

work. But as I recall, linmodem didn't help. I Googled around
frantically on
it for a couple of days and never saw anything that offered hope. If
you
find a way to make it work, let me know. But I wouldn't be too
optimistic.
