A friend of mine contributes to: <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.freespamfilter.org/";>http://www.freespamfilter.org/</a>

I just recently setup a gentoo box with qmail, courier-imap-ssl,
spamassassin, razor, pyzor, dcc, amavisd, etc. Lots of good guides out
there -- wasn't too painful at all.

And to be honest, Mozilla Thunderbird has a really good spam filter once
it starts learning. You could do like me and leave Thunderbird running
(checking mail every 5-10 mins) on a PC with some rules to filter
messages, and when you pop or IMAP your mail from any other client, your
mailbox is nice and tidy.

Good luck,
