I wonder if this is part of a (presumably illicit) attempt to harvest 
email addresses.  Think about it... What list wouldn't allow subscribers 
from a university, and what university would police their (student?) 
emails enough to see a massive harvesting op?  All the while lots of 
lists are "telling" that email account that each poster's email address 
is valid.
