BS used to be able to charge *whatever* for high-speed network access
(several hundred for ISDN, several thousand for T-1, and on up the
chain), and keep the vast majority of the $$

Now, BS provides copper only to companies like Cbeyond who then provide
the customer with a 'value added' T-1 circuit for $500.

Perhaps a bit overly simplistic, but I believe it's pretty accurate.

>>I've heard both good and bad about Cbeyond. My company is a Cbeyond
>>Channel Partner, and we recommend it to quite a few of our clients.
>>Thus far, we've got clients running the BV1 (single T-1) and BVIII
>>(three T-3's), and none have had any real trouble (there has been an
>>issue with bubba and the backhoe). I've heard from a number of other
>>people though that have had nothing but trouble.
>>
>>
>
>I am deeply suspicious about the T1 connection that BS provides. Most of
>the issues my folks have had with connectivity have been related to BS
>and their T1 line, not CBeyond connection.

>>>Every customer we have that uses CBeyond has nothing but trouble with their
>>>connectivity. In fact we HIGHLY recommend that NONE of our customers even
>>>consider them as an option.

>>>>>They'll do ya a t-1 for under 200 bux.

>>>>>
>>>>>
>>>>>
>>>>Is that per month? He'll still need some device that can do frame
>>>>right? Like a cisco 2500 router.

>>>>
>>>>
>>>Cbeyond offers T1's with phone and data for about $500/month (5 lines,
>>>2000 minutes of long distance, other perks, etc). It includes the Cisco
>>>box that dynamically splits out phone traffic from data traffic. If the
>>>phone is not in use, you have a full T1 of data. Each phone call eats
>>>96k of data of bandwidth.
>>>
>>>I have several clients with CBeyond and they are very happy.
>>>
>>>If anyone is interested drop me a line and I will get you in touch with
>>>a top-notch (i.e. not pushy) sales rep who can fill you in on all the
>>>details.
>>>
>>>They have multiple packages for larger needs (15 lines, 2 T1's, etc).
