I would think the same too, but I had Ubuntu installed before Gentoo and I
didn't have this problem. I can't figure out HOW it could happen either. It
appears it's showing whatever was stored in the video memory before
shutdown, but how the hell is that staying in memory when I turn my laptop
off?!? I've probably just made some sort of mistake in my xorg.conf, but I
really have no idea. Thank you for your response.
