The debacle rages on......

Lost power this PM in the middle of a kernel recompile and now
need to enable 'make bzImage' on a drive that at bootup reports:

invalid compressed format (err=1)
--System halted.

Incidentally, Debian-2.4.17 on the way to Sarge via dist-upgrade.

I can mount said unbootee on another booted drive.
