[ale] booting problem

All:

I am trying to install Win98se, Slack 11, and Slack 12 on the same machine and 
multiboot any of them.  Win98se boots properly.  Slack 12 boots properly, but 
Slack 11 loads the kernel from Slack 12 and hangs.  Slack 12 is located on 
hdc2; slack 11 is located on hdc3.  I have  the same problem whether I use 
LILO 22,8 or Grub 0.97.  I can boot either Slack 11 or 12 from a boot floppy.

The system has Windows98se on hda1.

The system uses a  MSI K8t800 system  board with an AMD
 Sempron 2600+ and 512 MB system memory.  I have gone through the manual for 
grub and found nothing that helps.

Any suggestions as to where to look or what to do appreciated.
