[ale] Xorg w/ GeForce 6100 and an almost blank screen

quite strange. All the conf and logs look OK. Get out of runlevel 5, kill X,
unload the nvidia kernel module and start again.

Test the device also by using the 'nv' driver instead of nvidia in xorg.conf


laptop with external monitor on by default?
