I'd still be paranoid. Something ain't right (and it could be Etherape).

I'm assuming running ifconfig a few times doesn't show packet traffic
on the interfaces then?

Also, look around for old style english phone booths, white vans, black 
helicoptors and loose dilithium crystals.. something is amiss.
