[ale] looking for an open source 'webex' type of app

I don't know whether you are looking at open source, or cross-platform and free.
elluminate will work with Mac, Linux, and that other OS, and it is free for up to three concurrent connections.
I use it regularly for remote support and implementation.  It can also be used for web conferencing, including voice, video and whiteboarding.
