[ale] MX records mapping to IP addresses (dns)

This eludes me. What is the real reason one cannot/should not point an  
MX record to a IP address? Sure, loading balancing and failover, but  
is there anything else?

Now dns caches have to hit my non recursive server twice. Dumb if you  
ask me. Wow, I think I am turning into Dr. Bernstein!
