[ale] Recording Screencasts in Linux

Do any ALErs have experience recording screencasts in linux? I've tried
Xvidcap before and found it unusable. Ideally I'd use a program that can
record the screen and audio from a microphone.

Some alternatives are listed here [0]. Without any advice I'll try them
all and report back.
