[ale] Seeking Desktop Manager Advice

    I've been running kde on gentoo for years, currently my system is
running kde 4.4.4 on an up to date gentoo install.  I held onto kde3.5
for the longest time, but now it has been removed from gentoo stable. 
On a whim I decided to take the plunge to kde 4.x.  In a nutshell, don't
like it.  So I'm soliciting opinions on desktops managers, other than
kde & gnome.  Are there any other desktop managers you can recommend for
a regular desktop user?
