[ale] Cloning boot media

I have an FC13 laptop that dual-boots WinXP and Linux. The Windows 
'System' partition is flagged 'active'; 'grub' info is in '/boot'.

I want to make an alternative bootable USB and/or CD for my system, 
otherwise booting the same options. I can copy '/boot' as required but 
don't know how to make the media bootable. What's the drill here?
